Job Description

Studio Tech

As a Studio Technician, you play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning studio environment. You will help facilitate the flow of work through the studio, including loading and unloading kilns, processing clay reclaim, and mixing new clay and glazes.

In addition to supporting studio operations, you will be the face of the studio, giving tours, conducting membership orientations, and answering member questions about policies and equipment. You will also assist members with materials, help maintain an organized workspace, and ensure that everyone has a positive experience.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about ceramics who enjoys supporting others and is strong in organization.

About Us: Tao of Clay is a vibrant ceramic membership studio dedicated to providing a supportive environment for creatively driven individuals to explore and expand their passion for ceramic arts. We offer a diverse range of courses in throwing, hand-building, and glazing/firing, led by our skilled in-house instructors and guest artists.

At Tao of Clay, we harmonize the artistry of clay with the healing principles of Mindfulness and Organicity. We promote immersing ourselves in the creative process, prioritizing our present experiences, and shaping not only objects but also individual growth. By nurturing both the artist and the art, we foster a passion for ceramics and help people tap into their inner creativity in a welcoming, communal space. As part of our core values, we cultivate a genuine, rich sense of community enjoyed by staff, members, and students, which nurtures a sense of ownership of the studio. We regularly host member events that staff attend and facilitate. Altogether, we are a happy community.

  • Inventory Management: Monitor the inventory of clay, glazes, tools, and supplies, and report any shortages or issues to the Clay and Glaze Manager
  • Kiosk operations: Assist members and students with purchasing kiosk items at the POS. Assist the Studio Manager in all Kiosk operations, including stocking and inventory.
  • Studio Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized studio by incorporating regular ongoing and end-of-day cleaning procedures. These procedures include cleaning studio tables, wheels, sinks, slop and first rinse bins, and the floor. Restock toiletries as needed. Report any bathroom maintenance issues to the Studio Manager.
  • Class/Workshop Support: Assist with setup, cleanup, and participant support of workshops and classes as needed.
  • Brand Ambassador: Collaborate with the Marketing team to enhance our social media and marketing efforts by documenting studio activities as needed.
