JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for communicating closely with Owners, the Board, Directors, Franchisees and other team members to coordinate and execute strategic initiatives for advertising, agency management, brand development, franchise growth, restaurant sales to guests, and retail sales to customers. This role involves creating, executing, and overseeing the company’s marketing plan and store-specific plans, as well as analyzing the results. The Director of Marketing & Communications helps attain the company’s Purpose by ensuring that strategic initiatives and Marketing Plans are executed for maximum benefit. In addition, all team members must be familiar with and follow to the best of their ability the Mission Statement and Statement of Core Values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. Interview, hire, train, develop, counsel, and when necessary, discipline, and terminate team members for the department.
  2. Organize and oversee schedules of Marketing & Communications team members. Arrange shift coverage or fill in when needed.
  3. Uphold collaborative communication by completing the following:
  4. a. Hold consistent and frequent meetings (one-on-one, team, etc.)
  5. b. Provide timely feedback to team members.
  6. Delegate responsibilities as needed to help ensure the smooth operation of the business.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain professional attitude and appearance to represent Café Yumm!.
  2. Provide professional support service and communicate effectively with others to deliver services that are professional, timely, and of uniform quality.
  3. Effectively keep others informed about progress and problems.
  4. Develop annual and long-term marketing concepts in accordance with the company’s Purpose, Mission, and Core Values.
  5. Brand Development & Storytelling: Elevate our restaurant and CPG brands through compelling
  6. narratives, cohesive visual identity, and innovative marketing strategies.
  7. Consumer Engagement & Loyalty: Design and execute customer-centric campaigns, leveraging loyalty programs, influencer partnerships, and experiential marketing.
  8. Digital & Traditional Marketing: Drive awareness and conversions through integrated digital advertising, social media, email marketing, and in-store promotions.
  9. Product Launch & Retail Expansion: Lead go-to-market strategies for new product introductions in retail, e-commerce, and food service channels.
  10. Market Research & Competitive Analysis: Analyze industry trends, consumer insights, and competitor positioning to refine marketing efforts.
  11. Sales & Operations Collaboration: Work closely with operation teams, sales, and supply chain to align marketing with business growth objectives.
  12. Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing marketing team across brand, digital, and creative functions.
  13. Develop and improve systems to better serve the marketing needs of the company.
  14. Implement and track compliance and success of marketing plans, including Local Area Marketing and

REQUIRED SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

  1. Proven success in restaurant and CPG brand building and demand generation.
  2. Expertise in digital marketing, customer loyalty, and retail marketing strategies.
  3. Strong analytical skills and ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  5. Possess “can do” attitude.
  6. Attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

7+ years in marketing leadership, preferably in restaurant, food & beverage, or CPG industries.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
