Job Summary:

The Clinical Manager/Director of Patient Care Services is responsible for the overall direction of hospice services. The Clinical Manager/Director of Patient Care Services establishes, implements, executes and provides ongoing evaluation of goals and objectives for hospice services. Goals and objectives that meets and promotes the standards of quality and financial metrics and contributes to the overall success of the company.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees overall hospice operations and provides leadership
  2. Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by hospice team members
  3. Provides leadership and guidance to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors to assist them in continually improving all aspects of hospice care services.
  4. Provides leadership and direction for Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors in managing clinical teams and provides for staffing plans.
  5. Oversees assessment, planning, execution and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care for all clinical personnel.
  6. Knowledgeable and can interpret service indicators and metrics; service, quality and financial, monitors for changes that impacts services and takes action resulting in positive company impact.
  7. Provides leadership and mentorship for Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors as they provide leadership and guidance ensuring clinical teams have the skills and ability to care for patients.
  8. Executes appropriate staffing plan for both administrative and clinical staff that meets Census needs. Adjusts as necessary when census requires both additions and decreases.
  9. Evaluates and oversees performance of service vendors and partners ensures care/service provided in keeping with Company goals and objectives in terms of quality, patient experience and financial metrics.
  10. Keeps apprised and knowledgeable with industry changes and revisions as well as clinical advances applicable to hospice services. Tracks and monitors any regulatory changes, i.e. state and federal regulations and accreditation standards and implements change as needed.

Position Qualifications:

  1. Registered Nurse with current/active California license in good standing with the BRN
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing. Master’s degree preferred
  3. Experience in health care leadership and management along with hospice experience and as follows,
  4. a. Three years of management experience within the last five years in hospice or related health care organization, at least one year of which was a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  5. b. A registered nurse with four years’ experience within the last five years in a hospice agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  6. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order that is insured in accordance with the state and/or company requirements.
  7. Knowledgeable of business management, hospice regulations and accreditation standards.

Skills Required:

  1. Ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
  2. Ability to assist with marketing and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
