Job Description

This position performs semi-skilled jobs in a variety of trade areas. The incumbent typically replaces parts, makes minor adjustments to machinery, and repairs buildings, equipment and miscellaneous articles. Work is done in accordance with established procedures, and frequent and detailed instructions are given on new or complex work.

This position will maintain the structural maintenance of building facilities and equipment so that structural integrity, energy, efficiency, security and physical appearance are maintained. Also, make minor repairs to facilities to ensure the safety of occupants and extend the usefulness of the structures.

Specific duties include:

• Maintain and repair buildings and other structures.
• Maintain HVAC.
• Assist the plumber in performing plumbing repairs and maintenance.
• Assist the electrician in performing electrical repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain the building systems preventive maintenance program.
• Maintain the headquarters pool vehicle fleet.
• Perform minor custodial duties and snow removal duties.
• All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Different types of flooring and floor coverings sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and cleaning
• Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, anti-bacterial, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle, apply and dispose of safely
• Methods, hand and power tools and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs
• Painting products and the processes of applying.
• Must have a Class D Driver's License
