Akkodis is seeking an Junior Facilities Technician for a Contract position with a client in Glenwood, IL.

• Rate Range: $16 - $20/hour (DOE); The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
• Duration: 3-6 months
• Location: Glenwood, IL
• Shift : 1st

Facilities only, no production work, unless an extra set of hands is needed. minimal plumbing.

Why: Contract open to bridge a gap. Current contractor isn't cutting it. Not motivated. Needs someone who wants to learn and work.

Position Summary:

The Junior Facilities Maintenance Technician supports daily operations by performing basic maintenance and repair tasks across the facility. This entry-level role is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual looking to grow technical skills in building systems, equipment upkeep, and general maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine building maintenance (e.g., replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, painting, patching walls)
• Support HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical system inspections under supervision
• Assist with setup and breakdown of facility events or workspace changes
• Complete assigned work orders and document activities in maintenance logs
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of workspaces, mechanical rooms, and common areas
• Respond to basic repair requests and escalate more complex issues to senior staff
• Help monitor inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0–2 years of maintenance, construction, or related hands-on experience
• Basic understanding of tools, hardware, and safety practices
• Ability to follow directions, work independently, and take initiative
• Good communication skills and a customer-service mindset
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities
• Repair experience (professional or personal)

Preferred but Not Required:

• Trade school or technical certification in facilities, maintenance, or related field
• Familiarity with CMMS or work order systems
• Basic electrical, plumbing, or carpentry knowledge
