Job Description

Position Summary:

The Logistics Optimization Analyst will play a key role in maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of our truck routing and collection operations. This individual will analyze and interpret transportation data from disparate sources, collaborate with dispatch and field teams, and deploy data visualization tools to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements. This position will rely on heavy Excel based data manipulation and modeling as well as using other tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Analyze route performance and transportation data to optimize truck schedules, reduce mileage, minimize working hours, and lower fuel usage
• Collaborate with operations managers, dispatchers and drivers to improve collection workflows and adapt to changing service needs
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Excel and Tableau to track KPIs such as route efficiency, driver performance, customer volumes and pickup accuracy
• Manipulate large operational datasets to uncover inefficiencies, trends, and missed service opportunities
• Assist in adjusting territory planning and route zoning to improve customer service and reducing cost per stop
• Recommend asset needs (vehicles and drivers) by terminal and establish baselines for working hours and expected daily productivity by service route
• Challenge existing assumptions with creative and practical solutions to complex logistical problems

This role supervises the following positions: None

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in transportation logistics, waste collection, or related fields (oil, grease, hazmat, etc.) specifically with fleet based route collections
• Very strong analytical skills and a passion for continuous improvement and challenge
• Highly skilled in advanced Excel modeling
• Proficient in handling, manipulating and combining large data sets
• Adept with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI including building and utilizing dashboards in such software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with dispatchers, field crews, and executives to identify both problems and solutions
• Fluent in English; Spanish is a helpful but not required
• Knowledge of fleet management, route planning and environmental regulations is a plus

Years of Experience: 3

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in waste management, environmental services, or recycling industries
• Familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) or similar routing software
• Experience with fleet telematics, GPS tracking, and real-time route adjustment systems
• Experience in tracking and optimizing rail car movements as part of intermodal or long-haul logistics
• APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) – ASCM
• Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)
• SCPro™ Certification – Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)
