Job Title: Medical Biller

Location: San Diego, CA (Remote PST)

Type: Full-Time and Contract

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Pay Range: $20/hr.

Position Summary:

We are seeking two experienced Billing Specialists (Reimbursement Specialist I) to join our Patient Financial Services team in a fully remote capacity. Candidates must reside within the Pacific Time Zone . The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing billing and collections for hospital-based (HB) accounts across commercial, government, and managed care payors.

This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of interpreting complex payor contracts while ensuring accurate reimbursement and timely follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform billing and account follow-up for assigned payors, including commercial, government, and managed care.
• Review and interpret payor contracts to determine appropriate reimbursement.
• Send paper claims, appeals, and refund requests in accordance with payor requirements.
• Utilize EPIC to manage billing workflows and maintain accurate account documentation.
• Communicate with payors via phone and online portals to resolve outstanding balances.
• Identify recurring payor issues and escalate to leadership as appropriate.
• Maintain knowledge of billing regulations and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
