Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students’ needs in the area of occupational therapy, identifying developmental, sensory, motor, and functional challenges that may impact educational performance.
  • Design, develop, and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans that align with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, ensuring interventions are evidence-based and educationally relevant.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, targeting skill development in fine motor coordination, gross motor function, sensory processing, self-help abilities, and emotional regulation to support functional independence and academic success.
  • Collaborate proactively with teachers, paraprofessionals, school administrators, and related service providers to incorporate therapy strategies into daily classroom activities and school routines, promoting consistency and generalization of skills.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation of all assessments, treatment sessions, progress monitoring, and outcome data in accordance with district policies and professional standards.
  • Accurately complete and submit all necessary documentation to facilitate reimbursement for eligible services through the district-approved billing and reimbursement system.
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings, providing professional insights, progress reports, and recommendations as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive planning and support for each student.
  • Provide training, consultation, and educational resources to school staff and families to help them implement strategies that foster students’ functional independence across educational and home environments.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, guidelines, and ethical standards related to the provision of school-based occupational therapy services.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, collaborate within interdisciplinary teams, and manage caseload responsibilities in a school-based setting.
  • Flexibility and creativity in adapting therapeutic approaches to address the unique and varied needs of individual students.
