Payroll & Compliance Specialist – DocStar Medical Partners

Overview

DocStar Medical Partners is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-driven Payroll & Compliance Specialist

to join our growing Florida office. This in-person role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-first environment and has a strong understanding of payroll, compliance, benefits and other HR operations.

In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting internal staff across departments, managing HR functions such as payroll coordination, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and employee relations. You’ll also serve as a key player in maintaining compliance and supporting our internal infrastructure as we continue to grow nationally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Payroll Coordination: Work closely with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for internal and external staff.
• Benefits Administration: Assist with employee benefits including enrollments, updates, and inquiries.
• Workers’ Compensation: Handle all WC audits, compliance, documentation, and communication with insurance providers.
• Unemployment Claims: Respond to unemployment claims.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and jurisdictional regulations related to HR, payroll, and tax filings.
• Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and confidential employee records and HR data.
• Support Functions: Partner with leadership and assist in internal recruitment efforts, onboarding, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a HR Generalist, Payroll Specialist or similar role
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and ADP is a plus
• Strong understanding of payroll processes and relevant regulations
• Experience with labor laws, federal, state, and jurisdictional registration tax and compliance
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance with Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Workers’ Compensation (WC)
• Multi-state exposure preferred
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, sales-oriented environment
• Experience in the medical or nursing field is a plus
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
