Position Overview

Powers & Sons Construction is seeking a dedicated and organized Project Manager to oversee construction projects during our second shift operations. This role is essential to maintaining project schedules, quality standards, and team coordination in the Chicago area. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, construction industry knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Location & Schedule

  • Location: Chicago, IL
  • Schedule: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
  • Travel: None required

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction operations and project activities during second shift hours
  • Coordinate with crew members, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project continuity and adherence to schedules
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to maintain profitability and efficiency
  • Conduct regular site inspections and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on project progress, issues, and completed work
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, building codes, and company standards
  • Communicate with first shift staff and management to ensure seamless project handoffs
  • Address and resolve on-site issues promptly to minimize delays
  • Track inventory and manage equipment usage during shift operations
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and respond to their concerns or requests

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree in construction management or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management or site supervision
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and safety requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or OSHA certification
  • Experience with second shift or alternative schedule management
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project)
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on construction sites for extended periods
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding when necessary
