Internship Overview
This residency internship is for candidates who want an immersive environment near Princeton, IL: experience agricultural operations on-site while producing real research work in quantitative strategies and market analytics. The internship is unpaid, but housing and a living stipend are provided.
What You’ll Do (Trader Support & Research Ops)
1. Support traders by validating ideas : translate hypotheses into testable questions, define metrics, run controlled experiments, and summarize results.
2. Maintain and improve the research pipeline : data cleaning/validation, feature tables, reusable analysis notebooks, and automated reporting templates.
3. Perform data-driven market analysis : trend/regime diagnostics, volatility & correlation monitoring, event/seasonality analysis, and simple risk attribution.
4. Prepare concise daily/weekly briefs : key observations, what changed, and what it could imply for positioning and risk (research-focused).
5. Ensure research is well-documented and reproducible (clear notes, versioned code, consistent outputs).
6. Agriculture + Markets Connection (On-site Context).
7. Observe farm operations and capture structured notes on seasonality, supply/logistics, and operational changes.
8. Translate observations into market-relevant research angles (e.g., “what might matter for pricing behavior and why”).
Requirements (Must-have)
Python (pandas/numpy), basic visualization; comfort with CSV/Excel. SQL/Git are a plus.
Strong quantitative foundation (math/stats/econ/finance/engineering/CS or equivalent majors). Master’s degree required; PhD strongly preferred (or PhD candidate with demonstrated research capability).
Ability to write clearly: research notes, experiment logs, and concise summaries.
Self-discipline and reliability for on-site residency living near Princeton.
Mandarin preferred.
