Role Description

The Vice President or Director, Construction Management – Data Centers is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Northern Virginia, VA or Phoenix, AZ. This role is responsible for end-to-end oversight of large-scale data center and data hall construction projects, from preconstruction planning through commissioning and turnover.

The role has full accountability for construction strategy, cost control, scheduling, contract negotiations, safety, and quality assurance, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with tenant and organizational requirements. As a senior leader, this individual will establish construction best practices, proactively mitigate risk, and align execution with broader development and operational objectives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in large-scale construction management, with a minimum of 5+ years focused on mission-critical or data center facilities.
  • Proven experience managing data hall construction and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects valued at $100M+, including fast-track and phased construction programs.
  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of mission-critical infrastructure, including power distribution (utility service, substations, UPS, generators, switchgear), cooling systems (chilled water, CRAH/CRAC, evaporative cooling, liquid cooling exposure a plus) commissioning processes (Level 1–5) and integrated systems testing.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, AHJs, permitting, and regulatory compliance
  • Advanced proficiency in construction scheduling and cost controls (MS Project, or equivalent)

Management

  • Experience managing general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills and experience managing GMPs and change orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a safety-first culture with an excellent safety record.

Communication Skills

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing large construction budgets and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with hyperscale tenants, design teams, contractors, and commissioning agents.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering.
