Job Description

Summary & Responsibilities:

  • 100% Domestic Travel. Provides field service in connection with the installation, start-up, service, troubleshooting, repair, or demonstration of grinding machines and their components.

  • Duties will be tailored to the skill level and experience the technician has with the specific machine type or system.

  • Projects are primarily onsite at customers' facilities and occasionally will be required to work onsite at corporate HQ.

  • Projects vary in length, the majority are a few days, but some may be several months.

  • Responsible for demonstrating machine performance, supporting customer training in the set-up and operation, as well as troubleshooting the machine operation and repairing the equipment on location.

  • Other duties may include supporting the Aftermarket department by following up on quotes, researching parts, providing technical support, assisting with repair orders, and working on erecting floor plans with machine setup technicians and assemblers.

  • Work assigned by supervision; self-directed in the field, but with frequent communications from home office or more senior field personnel.

  • Representing the company in the customer's plant, good performance is vital to customer satisfaction.

  • May perform heavy assembly work.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.

  • Able to travel up to 100% to customer locations as required for service.

  • Able to work overtime and/or work on "off-shifts” as required by business needs.

  • Minimum 2 years of field service experience and knowledge of precision cylindrical grinding. Knowledge of centerless grinding and double disc grinding is a plus.

  • Knowledgeable of CNC machines with servo drives and motors.

  • Knowledgeable of Programmable Logic Controls such as Allen-Bradley, FANUC, Siemens, etc.

  • Experienced in Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Analytical ability required for identification and evaluation of operational problems; ingenuity is often required in problem solving under strange or difficult circumstances.
