Job Description

Our client, a family owned department store within an incredible 100+ year history in Ojai, CA is hiring for an experienced and dynamic Retail General Manager to lead their store operations and play a key role in shaping our brand and customer experience. Our client is looking for an experienced and visionary retail leader to oversee all aspects of our store’s operations, including buying, merchandising, marketing, team leadership, and financial management. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for retail, a keen eye for quality merchandise, and the ability to inspire a team of dedicated employees. This role is crucial in upholding the our client's tradition of outstanding customer service and delivering an exceptional shopping experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee buying and merchandising across all departments, ensuring a compelling product mix that aligns with our client's brand and customer expectations.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to a team of 25 employees, fostering a positive and motivated work environment.
  • Manage daily operations, finances, and strategic planning to optimize performance and profitability.
  • Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and sales growth.
  • Maintain the highest standards of product quality and personalized customer service, reinforcing the store’s reputation for excellence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in buying and merchandising, particularly in men’s and women’s apparel.
  • Strong background in retail management and customer service.
  • Expertise in marketing and branding strategies with a track record of driving business growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, payroll, revenue, and forecasting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 (DOE)
  • Benefits: Full medical and dental insurance after three months of full-time employment.
  • Performance-based bonuses tied to revenue growth.

This is an onsite role in Ojai, CA.
