Our direct client is looking to bring on a Scrum Master for a 6 month contract working Hybrid onsite in Carlsbad, CA.

Candidates must be driving / commuting distance to Carlsbad, CA

• Job Title: Contract Scrum Master – AI/Data (Life Sciences)
• Location: Carlsbad, CA
• Hybrid: must work onsite Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
• Remote on Monday and Friday
• Duration: 6 Month Contract to start (Potential for extension)

• Contract Hourly, only open for 1099 or Corp-2-Corp. ( NO w2 contract)

Our direct client, a leader in the life sciences industry, is undergoing an Agile transformation and is seeking a Scrum Master to support a highly technical AI/Data Engineering team . The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Agile professional with strong Scrum Master experience, a background in project portfolio management, and familiarity with data platforms such as Databricks. This role will be instrumental in coaching the team and guiding them through the Agile transition, while ensuring successful delivery of critical data and AI initiatives in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a Scrum mentor , guiding team members and leadership through Agile frameworks, practices, and mindset shifts.
• Facilitate and lead Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and Product Owners to organize and manage the AI/Data team’s project portfolio .
• Support the broader Agile transformation by helping implement best practices and process improvements.
• Track team performance, manage sprint velocity, and resolve blockers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Partner with highly technical teams, including Data Engineers , Data Scientists , and Automation experts , to support successful project execution.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards within the life sciences domain.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Scrum Master in Agile environments.
• Experience with Agile transformation initiatives and team coaching.
• Background or familiarity with project management principles and cross-functional delivery.
• Strong understanding of Jira for sprint planning, backlog grooming, and tracking metrics.
• Experience working with AI/Data teams and platforms such as Databricks .
• Must have experience working in regulated industries such as life sciences , biotech, medical devices , or pharmaceuticals .
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Scrum certification (CSM, PSM I/II, or SAFe)
• Experience with GxP, FDA regulations, or healthcare compliance standards
• Familiarity with other Agile tools (Azure DevOps, Confluence) and scaled frameworks (SAFe, LeSS)

Contract is only open for 1099 or Corp-2-Corp. ( NO w2 contract)

Must be able to pass and clear background check and Drug Test prior to starting.
