Four Seasons Outdoors

Four Seasons Outdoors is a community interest company based in Blackburn, taking people on outdoor adventures across England. The work covered a new logo and a website built around a booking system of their own, replacing the third-party platform they had been paying an annual subscription to. It carries their regular programme of events — including walks that repeat every week around parks near them — with free and paid places handled side by side. The team add and change events themselves and can see what each one has taken. We also set up their email.

Charity / CIC 5 things we built Visit the site
The Four Seasons Outdoors website

Where they began

No website of their own. Adventures were listed and booked through third-party platforms carrying an annual subscription, so money went out every year and the customer journey belonged to someone else.

What was hard

The organisation brings people together through walking, climbing and outdoor experiences. It needed a brand with enough character to feel memorable, paired with a website polished enough to support a premium, trustworthy customer journey.

The platform also had serious operational work to do: present a changing calendar of adventures, communicate availability and essential information, accept bookings and process online payments without sending customers through a disconnected collection of tools.

The design and the booking system therefore had to be developed as one experience — from the first image a visitor sees through to the moment their place is confirmed.

What we built

The brand and the booking system were built as one piece rather than a website with a booking form attached. The starting point was what the team has to do every week: a repeating walk is set up once instead of re-entered, free and paid places run through the same flow, and what an event has taken is visible without exporting anything. All of it sits behind an admin the team operate themselves — the site was handed over as something they run, not something they come back to us to change.

The homepage carries the idea rather than stating it. This is an organisation that exists because desk-bound days are hard on people and being outdoors helps, so the hero stays dark until you move through it and a torch beam finds the way. Guiding someone toward something better is the work; the page does it before a word has been read.

The guiding light

The guiding light

The homepage hero sits in darkness until the cursor moves across it, and a torch beam picks out what is there. It is the brand's own idea made literal — an organisation that guides people toward better days outdoors, doing the guiding before a single line has been read.

The adventure calendar

The adventure calendar

Every upcoming adventure in one calendar, so people can find a date that suits them rather than reading down a list that goes stale. Walks that run every week appear where they should without anyone re-entering them.

Free and paid places, one journey

Free and paid places, one journey

Some adventures are free and some are paid, and a visitor should never have to think about which. Both run through the same booking flow, from choosing a date through to confirmation, with payment taken on the site rather than handed off elsewhere.

A back end the team actually runs

A back end the team actually runs

Adding an adventure, moving a date, opening or closing places — the team do all of it themselves in an admin built for the job. A walk that repeats every week is set up once and then left alone.

Knowing what each event took

Knowing what each event took

Reporting is part of the system rather than a spreadsheet afterwards, so the organisation can see how an event performed and what it brought in without exporting a thing.

What changed

A distinctive identity

A bespoke logo and visual system give Four Seasons Outdoors a recognisable, high-end presence across the website and wider communications.

Calendar-led discovery

Visitors can browse upcoming adventures, understand what each experience involves and find the right date through a clear event calendar.

Bookings and e-commerce payments

The journey continues from event discovery into booking and online payment without losing trust, context or visual consistency.

A capable operational platform

The team can manage adventures, dates and content through a structured system designed for ongoing growth after handover.
